Turn 4

A Melta Missile blast lights up the battlefield...

Oh, no.  OH NO!!!

It hits Ulysses!!!!  A Strength 8(!!!) hit causing 4 wounds at -4 to Ulysses' fashionable carapace armour!!!!  Ulysses is gone!!  He is gone.  Ulysses, hero, survivor, man of myth and mayhem, main character of many, many games, campaigns and adventures, gone...And by a Melta Missile at that!  Mouse, how could you??!!

Finnegan does not take it well.  He rolls on the Monster Reaction Table.  A 5.  Raaargh!   Frenzy and Hatred for the rest of the game.  He immediately charges into the combat with Bert and Mykhul.

Speaking of Monster Reaction Tests, Tiny,  overcome by the loss of Ace, also has to roll.  He rolls a 1 - Stupidity!  He then takes a Ld test which he fails (double 6's!).   And he rolls yet one more 6!?!  He can't do anything this turn.

The rest of my movement is taken by The Man From Gamma Gamma 4, Mordecai Plank and Gaxt all charging into the combat with Bert and the Ork Warboss.

The Squats and Reese stay where they are and take aim at the Orks by the farmhouse.  In the shooting phase they shoot.  Reese hits and wounds.  (S3 Autogun)  As for the Squats, only Mauser hits and wounds.  (S4 Bolter)

Combat:  Mouse, we'll have to meet for this combat...

P.S. - Please see Mouse's great turn 4 write- up here.

Here is The Mighty Man From Gamma Gamma 4's mighty wounding roll:

And the swirl of combat that takes out Mykhul:

Mordecai Plank, Bert the Zoat, The Man From Gamma Gamma 4, and Finnegan all follow-up 2inches towards Neel and his Missile Boy.

The remainder of Rikk's Pyros run towards the Orchard.

    1. Welcome Asslessman! And yes, those poxy Melta Missiles! But really, isn't it okay to take out Chaos Traitors and leave heros like Ulysses alone?!! Maybe I should of had my "shrine" together before the game started in the hopes that my guys would be protected. Oh well, I'll know for next time...

    1. Thanks Mouse!

Wait a minute...didn't I give Ulysses a 1+ Invulnerable Save?? See you at 10:30 for our Combat.

  3. Hey. Ok, both of Neel's bolter boys are down, which I'm sure obliges me to take a leadership check, since I have only Neel and 1 Ork left. I roll an 8. I make it by the skin of my nasty yella teef.

    1. Alright! Here comes some Combat! And Multiple Combat at that. Let's start with Finnegan and Mykhul, 'cause he charged in and is Rushing with Frenzy and Hatred. He rolls 2D6 (1+Frenzy) 2,2 but Hatred gives a first round re-roll a 1 and a 6. So you get a +1 for my Fumble. Finnegan's total 6 +WS4 +charge = 11.

    2. Jeez, that Finnegan guy is pretty hard...let's see...Zow! I roll a 6, a 5, a 1 and a 2...I get 1 for my crit hit, and 1 for your fumble...so...correct me if I'm wrong...I should get a 14...3 hits on Finnegan...

    3. alas, I roll a brace of 1's and a 3 to wound. My strength is 4...what's Finn's toughness?

      Delete
    4. Argh! Great fighting! But the crit bonus is only added if a 2nd 6 is rolled. Still two hits on poor Finnegan (Mykhul's 6 +WS6 + my fumble =13 - F's 11 = 2hits. You can roll to wound. Finnegan is T4.

    5. Got it...ok, he is safe then, since my best roll was a 3...ok, next?

    6. I hope he is safe, Mouse! Finnegan has to roll to save at -1 to his carapace armour I roll a 5! He is safe!

    7. Warboss Mykhul: "Aw, man! He's got carapace armor, too? I hate Space Pirates! Ok, bring it on, ya varlets! Who's next?"

    8. Here comes Mordecai - 2D6, (1 + Outnumbering bonus) - he rolls a 1 and a 5. His total 5 +WS3 +1outnumber = 9. Your guy gets +1 for my fumble

      Delete
    9. Sorry, Mouse, I forgot the charge bonus, Mordecai has a total of 10

    10. Next up, The Mysterious and Mighty Man From Gamma Gamma 4...he rolls 5D6!! (His normal 2 + extra CC weapon + 2(!!) outnumbering dice now)...Ahh what's with the 1's??! He rolls 2 1's, 2, 5 and a 6. His total 6+WS5+charge+2 Out numbering=14 You get +2 in fumbles. My guys forgot to tie up their shoelaces...

      Delete
    11. Vs. Mordecai: I roll a high of a 4 +6+1...we're tied. Just realized you should have gotten a bonus for the fumble I rolled vs.Finnegan. Oh, well, I didn't hurt him anyway...ok, so we're drawn there...Hey, did you name Mordecai after the little guy in High Plains Drifter?

      Delete
    12. And now Bert, he rolls 2d6 regular, + extra CC weapon + 3 for Outnumbering - 6D6 and ...1, 2,3,4,5,5. His Combat score: 5 +WS5 +Charge+ 3 Outnumbering - 14. And you get another Fumble bonus...

      Delete
    13. vs. Gamma Gamma guy: Jeez! a 6 and 2 1's...my bootlaces are dragging too...does that mean you get 1 hit on me? or 2?

      Delete
    14. No about Mordecai. That's a nice connection...I never thought about that. I gave Mordecai his name 'cause he just seemed to shout Mordecai at me once he was finished.

      Delete
    15. Vs. Bert I roll a 6 and a 1...so I get a 13, and you get a bonus...so between Bert and Gamma Guy, you should get some hits on Mykhul...

      Delete
    16. From The Mighty Gamma Gamma Man there are 4 hits coming - 14+2 fumbles, 16 vs. Mykhul's 12. Gamma Gamma 4 is S4 vs. you T5, he rolls - Mouse you have to see this...5,5,6,6!! Seriously, I'm going to take a picture right now...

      Delete
    17. I hate you. Ok, Mykhul has mesh armor...5+ save...is there a save modifier?

      Delete
    18. Hey Mouse, I'm not sure if the brandy is interfering with my counting, but are you rolling your full 4 dice each round for Mykhul? He has 3 attacks plus an extra CC weapon that he still keeps against all the extra opponents he is fighting.

      Delete
    19. S4 from GG4 Man. Minus 1 armour save.

      Delete
    20. yep, I've been rolling 4 dice each round...hey what kind of brandy are you drinking?

      Delete
    21. Graggh! I need 6's and I get no sixes...War Boss Mykhul Face-plants in the mud. I was hoping to take at least one or two of your guys down before the end...Curse Gamma Gamma man!

    22. I must apologize for my guys, Mouse, they're now stomping on and jumping up and down on poor Mykchul. And St. Remy's - my old friend and standby.

      Delete
    23. yup. He's only got 3 wounds...pretty stellar performance from the Man from Gamma Gamma 7...

      Delete
    24. Jerks. Your pirates, not Saint Remy's...

      Delete
    25. Ok...Rikk's boys are running, but by jodhpurs, I've still got a missile launcher in the fight...have you got anything else to do?

      Delete
    26. I'll just do my follow-up, but it is your turn now Mouse, if you want to take another. We had talked about just 4 turns, but I'm game for another if you want. This has been great fun, Mouse!!! Thanks for this!

  4. Ok, next I believe we have to address the tangle with Tiny and the remnant of Rikk's Pyros next...I am sure they need to roll a leadership check as well, to see if they stay in the fight...I roll....AAAARGHHHHH!!!!!! Foiled! I roll another 8. Not good enough with Rikk lying bleeding in a mud puddle...Ok,what happens? Do my Orks run away? Checking rule book...

    ReplyDelete
  5. oops. Ok, well there's my roll for The Pyros morale. We'll finish the fight with Mykhul now...

    1. Rikk's boys do, indeed, run away. They run 6" toward the nearest cover away from the enemy, which is the orchard.

      Delete
  6. I think your guys get a follow-up...

  7. Although they seem content with their Mykhul dance, I'm going to urge them 2 inches towards Neel's guys. I'll go move them now.

  8. I like the derelict car on your table...is it just a 1/48 model kit?

    1. Thanks, Mouse. It is a dollarstore VW that I threw into a friend's firepit. I made a bunch of Post-Apoc scenary that way about ten years ago when I was playing alot of near-future skirmish games: Killzone, VOR, Shockforce, Trigger Happy, Gorkamorka and Necromunda. Gotta play some of those again. But it is all about 2nd Edition 40K for me right now. Thanks again, Mouse!

  9. Neel admirably passes his stupidity test and shoots his bolt pistol at your Beastman, hitting but failing to wound.

Then, in the final coup de grace, the missile launcher Ork fires a frag missile at Bert's face. The missile deviates 6" directly back onto the Ork, blowing him up and killing him.

    Sigh.

I concede the field to you, P.W. You win.

    1. Whew! That was fun! And we both win, Mouse, that was a joy to play! Also my gang was pretty souped up to reflect their personalities, experience, backstory and myth-machine - I mean Mouse, I had a Major Character, two Minor characters, a champion, Reese with an increased BS, not to mention an Ogryn and a Zoat!! This is why the Ulysses gang is wanted all over the known Galaxy!
