If only REAPER had pictures too!

Here are some photos that I was just enjoying from Gary Chalk's and Ian Bailey's wonderful and classic FANTASY WARLORD:

Beautiful stuff.

  1. More reasons to look this book up - as if the Chalk artwork wasn't enough!

    Lovely.

    1. Yes, it is great book to look at and flip through then completely forget about for a couple of months/years and then pick up again...The conversions done on some of the classic figs to fit certain rules are pretty great - my favourite being the Dwarf Pike unit.

  2. I remember not caring much for the rules themselves...the 'to hit' rules seemed unnecessarily complicated compared to Warhammer...and the setting was not very well developed...but I do remember loving the photos and the artwork...It was a beautiful book! Had to sell my copy, alas, during lean times back in college days...but I'd like to find a copy again, someday...I'd forgotten most of these great photos, but I remember them all now! Thanks for posting!

    1. Yeah, Mouse, I agree completely. I have had this book for over 10 years now but have yet to actually play a game with the rules. However, there are many wonderfull ideas that I have cherry-picked from the book and incorporated into various houserules at different times. Well-worth getting the book again though. And I have seen it super cheap over on Amazon.
